This transported me to my Grandma Daniels' kitchen table! I usually hate baked Mac and cheese because it gets mushy. Somehow this was creamy and cheesy and delicious. Next time, I'm getting the shrimp and grits. Heard it is amazing. Staff was fast, efficient and personable! Plus I love supporting a worthy cause! 5

I had lunch there today for the first time. The food was awesome. I got Mac and cheese and the chicken sandwich. Then I found out the purpose/mission of the place and I really feel in love with it.

Highly recommend you try this restaurant. Great food, great service, and great ambiance. I'd describe it as modern southern food. I had the baked oysters to start and I slurped every last drop out of the shells. Then had the shrimp and grits with a side of collard greens. I couldn't have been more satisfied. The sauce was smokey and slightly spicy poured over the grits, the shrimp were nicely cooked, and the portion size was impressive. The collards were tender and flavorful. If I had 1 slightly negative thing to say, a few more shrimp would have been nice. If I lived in Charlotte, I'd be back!

Decided to try a new place for our pregame meal and I have had King's Kitchen on my list for a long time. It was only a block or 2 off our beaten path so we decided to give it a try. Great decision and we should have tried it sooner to be honest. We kept it simple and took the suggestion from our server and we both got fried chicken- Brody got the dark meat and I got the white. Sides are al a cart so we got fries to share. The chicken came out fast and was steaming hot. Ever since the Chicken Coup shut down I have struggled to find good fried chicken. I struggle no more! The chicken was crispy, juicy and cooked to perfection. The fries were hand cut and crispy. They didn't need ketchup but they were served with it, none the less. This meal was tasty and the perfect portion size for a pregame meal. I highly recommend King's Kitchen for a tasty fried chicken. I will give it another go and try additional menu options next trip. I liked the layout of the bar and dining area and 2 separate managers came by to check on us during our short meal. Seems to be a place that takes pride in the quality of their food and the satisfaction of its customers. All the good things I heard about Kings Kitchen was backed up on this visit.
